Activities
Monthly Meetings
Throughout the year, monthly calls are organised on topics of general interest for the network. These are generally hosted and attended by members themselves, as well as external partners and grantees.
Annual Convenings
G-CHeP meets in person annually. Annual Convenings were held in New York (2017), London (2018), Washington (2019), online (2020), Düsseldorf (2021), Beirut (2022), Erbil (2023/2024). In recent years, these convenings have provided an opportunity for in-depth conversation on topics of interest to G-CHeP members, as well as chance to strengthen connections with local partners and grantees and convene public conversations for heritage advocacy..
Data pooling & impact evaluation
The network regularly collects grants data from its members to understand the evolution of the funding landscape including conservation needs, magnitude of commitments, applicant overlap, and geographical coverage. Network members gain access to this data. The network is currently also developing a framework to analyse and communicate the impact of heritage protection work across the network.
Pooled funding
In 2020, G-CHeP initiated a pooled funding mechanism to support emergency heritage protection. This process has been successfully deployed for crisis response in Beirut, Ukraine, Türkiye and Syria. Separate meetings are held regularly to coordinate needs and activities of the pooled funding.
